About Monkey Methods

Hello there! So, you want to know about us monkeys… where should we begin? Well, if we had to summarize it in one sentence, in cheesy mission-statement style, it’d be something simple like:

Our goal is to explore the emerging relationship between people and interactive media

Practically speaking, we are a small research group made up of folks from different backgrounds, working on fun projects that explore the way that technology is weaving itself into our daily lives. We call it “futuristic play.”

We’re interested in everything from PodCasting to social bookmarks to HotOrNot.com. We think it’s all amazing, great stuff. If you want to hear our random thoughts, read our blog. And we’re always interested in hearing opinions or feedback, so send us a note if you want to talk.

Where this all started…
OK, what’s the last thing you did with your friends? Like late last Friday, over beer and pizza?

Well if you’re like us, you probably argued with them, over questions like boxers versus briefs (2 votes boxers, 1 vote briefs), Dick Cheney’s robotism (1 vote truth, 2 votes myth), or the coolest new Internet item of the year (1 vote toaster, 2 votes horse head pillow).

But if you and your friends are nerds like us, you also argue about things like:

Are social networking sites ever going to go anywhere?
How do people have the time to write huge wiki articles?
Is BitTorrent ever going to stop being so nerdy and actually become usable?
In talking about these questions, we realized we all totally totally disagree on many of them. But we also realized that’s okay! When it comes to emerging technology, no one really knows the answer.

So we decided that it would be very fun to start playing around with different ideas, and from our varying perspectives, create new things that people find useful.

Come read about our projects here.
